Membership Information - as of February 2016

PSI-BC Regular Membership: Current as of January 2016

PSI-BC is a self-funded organization of offices responsible for recruiting at BC post-secondary institutions. Regular members are normally institutions that are part of the BC public post-secondary system and recognized by at least one of the two national post-secondary organizations in Canada: Universities Canada or CICan (Colleges and Institutes Canada).

The primary role of PSI-BC is to co-ordinate a fall schedule of visits to BC high schools to provide Grade 11 & 12 students and HS Counsellors with information on public post-secondary options in BC. PSI-BC also makes information available to counsellors, students and parents about all member institutions on their public website: www.psibcinfo.com

Regular Membership in PSI-BC is open to publicly funded colleges, institutes, and universities in the province of British Columbia. Regular Membership is also considered for publicly funded agencies or departments of a government Ministry directly involved in the delivery of post-secondary education and training. All PSI-BC members are required to abide by the PSI-BC Code of Conduct, and membership in PSIBC can be revoked at any time at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

Exceptions to Membership eligibility may be granted at the sole discretion of the Executive Committee. Private Degree Granting Institutions in British Columbia with national Membership status in Universities Canada may be considered for Regular Membership. Any other private institution seeking membership would be considered for Associate Membership.

TOTAL MEMBERSHIP in PSI-BC is limited to 30 members, based on the limitations of high schools to accommodate large numbers of institutions during the annual fall schedule.

Of this total, no more than three [3] Associate Memberships are available; if an Associate Membership space becomes available, there is no guarantee that it will be filled by Executive.

Membership Fees are reviewed annually by the Executive and are subject to change. Regular Membership fees are based upon the percentage participation rate (%) of members, using the total number of school visit requested a visit in the previous year. The final visit schedule listing the participation of institutions for each weekly schedule is used to determine participation rates regardless of whether or not the visit actually took place.

New Members joining with a Regular Membership pay $600 for their first year, unless they plan to visit 76%-100% of scheduled schools, in which case full Level 1 fees are required.  Applications are submitted to the Executive Committee. Email to: psibcinfo@gmail.com

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE: The annual deadline to apply for membership in PSIBC is March 1st for the next Fall [September-December] visit schedule. Applications after this date will not be considered until after the completion of the next fall schedule. If accepted, new members and participating staff are expected to sign the PSIBC Code of Conduct and attend the Professional Development event at the start of the visit season to ensure they are familiar with the protocols and expectations of the PSIBC visit program.
